With a saucy acronym and reliable service, bike-rack-equipped Tahoe Area Rapid Transit runs buses along the north shore as far as Incline Village, down the western shore to Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point State Park, and north to Squaw Valley and Truckee via Hwy 89. The main routes typically depart hourly from about 6am until 6pm daily.
Between June and September, TART also operates the Night Rider, a free local bus service connecting Squaw Valley, Tahoe City, Carnelian Bay, Tahoe Vista, Kings Beach, Crystal Bay and Incline Village hourly from 7pm until about 1am. Two more free nighttime summer-only trolley routes loop between Tahoe City and Tahoma via Sunnyside and Homewood, and between Northstar, Kings Beach and Crystal Bay, every hour from 6:30pm until midnight or 1am daily.
