Bicycle

Denver has lots of bike lanes on the city streets and an excellent network of trails to get out of town. These include routes along the Platte River Pkwy, the Cherry Creek Bike Path and a network that heads all the way out to Golden (about a two-hour ride). You can get all the information you need from a pair of excellent websites: Bike Denver (www.bikedenver.org) and City of Denver (www.denvergov.org), both of which have downloadable bike maps for the city.

B-Cycle This bike-share company has more than 80 stations throughout Denver. The daily rate ($9) includes unlimited rides as long as they’re under 30 minutes.

Bus

Regional Transportation District provides public transportation throughout the Denver and Boulder area (local/regional fares $2.60/4.50). The website has schedules, routes, fares and a trip planner.

Car & Motorcycle

Street parking can be a pain, but there is a slew of pay garages in downtown and LoDo. Nearly all the major car-rental agencies have counters at Denver International Airport, though only a few have offices in downtown Denver.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car is an international car-rental agency with several offices in the Denver metro area.

Light-Rail

RTD’s light-rail system currently has eight lines servicing the Denver metro area.

The A Line runs from Union Station to Denver International Airport, stopping in different suburbs along the way.

The W Line runs from Union Station, past the Pepsi Center and Mile High Stadium to the Jefferson County Government Center on the outskirts of Golden.

The C Line runs along the eastern edge of downtown, continuing south to Englewood and Littleton, ending on Santa Fe and Mineral Sts. The D Line starts at 30th and Downing in Five Points, going straight through the city to hook up with the southern run of the C Line to Littleton.

The E and F lines run from either Union Station or 18th and California south along I-25 to the Denver Tech Center, ending at Lincoln Ave. The H Line from 18th and California will take you to Nine Mile, where you could potentially walk or bike to Cherry Creek Reservoir.

The R Line connects the southern suburbs to the A Line and Denver International Airport.

At the time of research, a ninth line was in the works to provide service to the town of Arvada, just northwest of Denver.
